About Vidhi

Vidhi Salla is a cultural arts curator, journalist, radio show host and emcee based in Vermont, USA. She writes a monthly column on Indian cinema for Vermont-based dailies, Brattleboro Reformer, Manchester Journal and Bennington Banner. She has recently co-authored a book called Lata Mangeshkar: A Biographical and Scientific Study.

Vidhi is the founder of Vidhiism, a unique curation outfit through which she hosts Indian movie-watching experiences for overseas audiences. Prior to every screening, she presents a thoroughly researched cultural introduction to the film. Also part of the screening are Vidhiism Handicrafts, handmade Indian goods sourced by Vidhi directly from the makers. Adding to the authentic Indian experience of the events is Indian food that she works with the venue to help the chef prepare. She hosts an annual month-long showcase of Indian films called Bollywood Spotlight Series in collaboration with The Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Vidhi’s Bollywood Jukebox, her internationally streaming radio show has received accolades and recognition from audiences all over the world. Originally from Mumbai, India, Vidhi was featured in local newspapers of the US (Manchester Journal, Bennington Banner, The Commons, Brattleboro Reformer) and India (Mid-Day) for her entertaining, theme-based radio show as well as her dedication towards continued broadcasting. Vidhi lives and works in Vermont, USA and visits her hometown, Mumbai every winter for a few months. While in Mumbai, she records her shows from her home studio to be broadcast in Vermont.

Vidhi lends her oratorical skills to emcee several online and in-person events. Since the summer of 2021, Vidhi has been invited to emcee for a number of events organised by Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. Among the most recent ones was a rally for reproductive freedom organised on May 14, 2022 at the State House in Montpelier, Vermont. At the rally, Vidhi was given the honour to invite on stage, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders among other esteemed speakers.

In the winter of 2020, Vidhi started an online film club that connected audiences from different parts of the world over zoom. Following the success of the film club, Vidhi was awarded a grant for future in-person movie events by Vermont’s local nonprofit known as the ‘Arts Council of Windham County’. Vidhi has been a features writer for over a decade writing about Indian cinema for the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA)’s magazine, On Stage. In the past she has had a successful career as an editor and journalist for travel, cinema and the performing arts. She holds a Masters degree in English Literature.

In the fall of 2022, Vidhi was invited as a guest on Brattleboro’s popular talk show, ‘Here We Are’ hosted by Wendy O’Connell. Vidhi has a passion for cinema and Indian cultural arts that she would like to share with audiences all around the world through her numerous endeavors.
