Mountains Special: Dedicated to Vermont
The first time I visited Vermont, it was at the peak of summer. The verdant mountains, rows of towering pine trees and fresh mountain air reminded me of the mountains in India. That memory, invariably led me to Bollywood songs filmed in the mountains. These songs have the echo-ey quality of being in the mountains like the Aradhana number Kora Kagaz Tha. Often music directors composed songs with echo effects or have the singers repeat a word or phrase for the equivalent effect. Case in point, the song Kaun Hai Jo Sapno Mein Aaya where Mohammed Rafi sings ‘O Priya aaa aaa aa…’ and the mountains carry the echo forward.Here’s a list of all the beautiful mountain songs featured in this episode:
